    Where is it fused??

Gents on my '86 MGM Tudor I have gone over the Ford Electrical books and can not find the fuses that protect the under hood light, and the trunk light.

    Anyone have an idea?

I kind of remember, through a dark haze, that the fuse for the underhood light is in the housing along with the mercury switch but I could certainly be wrong bout this.

should tell you in the book where the power comes from, either a fuse number or a fuse link letter.

Seems like Fuse 8 (15 Amp) appears to control the courtesy lamps and I believe the Engine Compartment Lamp as well.

If that is true, why not say so in the books???............unless the term "courtesy lamps" encompasses the under hood and trunk lamps...........but jeeze why not just say so???????

Because that would make it too easy! I came to the same conclusion as everything else is listed.

is there not a page that shows what its wired to? It may be on it's own page rather than with the courtesy lamps. I don't have a Vic EVTM to reference but I want to say its that way on the Towncar EVTM. Been a long day though, and I don't feel like hunting it down. I know my fuse locations aren't the same anyway.

Got the info from a GM EVTM so unless I read it incorrectly (we old people do that sometimes) the info I offered should be correct.

Thain I have gone over 1. The 1986 Ford/Mercury Grand Marquis Electrical and Vacuum Trouble Shooting Manual Publication number 0336-507-86. and 2. the 1986 Ford/Mercury car Wiring Diagrams FoMoCo Publication Number 365-198J-86. I absolutely can not find any reference to an under hood lamp, nor a trunk lamp. Nor are they referenced as "courtesy lamps"?????????

I just checked with the GM sales brochure. Under options the under hood light is considered in the "light group" along with the dual spot interior light and power trunk release.
Looking at a 83 MGM owner manual ( I sold my 86 manual) The under hood light is considered a courtesy lamp. using bulb Transmissions so is the " luggage" lamp.
Try position 8, 15 amp fuse which might me light blue.
                        Maybe this helps you.

Many thanks gents,I actually found it!......have to be Perry Mason:-(............LOL guess it was too "difficult" for Ford to actually list the terms "under hood lamp", and 'trunk compartment lamp" Hopefully soon I will start with a new 36-R battery, then have my bud start to look for the parasitic drain. Also will replace all the brake line and brake hoses, after I saw what the rotted out drivers rear brake line looked like, (had it replaced) I will not take a chance of hitting the brake and my brain screaming.........."oh shit"....no brakes;-(
