    Clamp for door switch

Gents is there a special clamp I can purchase that will hold in the interior light switch located near the door hinge?

Are we talking in the door jamb? Does it not screw in as one piece?

+1 should be just a nylon nut on the door side and the switch pokes through from inside the car (behind the kick panel).

There is such a thing, used to use them at work. Kind of a spring with 2 cups attached.
You might be able to rig something up with a coat hanger or maybe something a little thicker?

What is wrong with the switch that you have ? Is it loose or broken or is that causing a drain ? In the past, I have just replaced the switch, which is easy.

Tom the switch is ok, just want to keep the interior lights off when I open the doors.

I must be missing something. The interior lights are SUPPOSED to come on when you open the doors.

Yes, this is what i was referring to
We used them when working on a door, to keep the battery from draining over time.

LOL.................correct, but when I work on the car and need to keep the doors open I do not want to drain the battery.

Could disconnect the battery or if you need power, you could use strong tape of a proper sized cut 2x4 to keep the switch pressed in. I am sure there are several other alternatives. That "spring tool" pictured seems interesting if someone can tell us where to find one.

If you have access to power, a battery charger/maintainer would also do the trick to keep the power up while you work.

I always just pry it out and unplug it when I have the doors open for a while.
