Car Power wire

Hello Everyone,

Well, I have all my cables and connectors to upgrade my starting and charging systems.
(91 GM, 5.0)
I also have some extra wire left over and would like to put it to use.

Can some one please tell me where the main power wire to the car (fuse panel?) is?

Is it connected to the battery side of the starter relay?
Is it tapped off the starter wiring under the car?

I looked at various diagrams, but no help.

yup - its in that big cluster on that side of the starter solenoid.

You must not have looked at an EVTM - in the "power/charge" diagram you can see one of the wires going to the interior fuse panel from the solenoid. Definitly get an EVTM they are a lifesaver for IDing wires and connectors.

I would not suggest cutting out the factory wiring to the fuse panel to replace it "just because". Unless its bad, leave it alone. The stock wires to the fuse panel are something like 10 ga, besides the wiring harness is a bit of a mess, and if you go digging around in there too much you might cause more trouble than fix. .

I second that btw - I replaced the fuse links with maxi fuses in a fusebox, thats not a bad mod to do if you are itching to upgrade things.
