i dont think it has anything to do with rich or lean... turning the round black think only changes the tension on the thermo-coil that dtermins the angle of the dangle (of the lever that holds the other lever connected to the throttle)Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

usually it also determines how long the choke stays shut.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

I remember in the carburated cars that the thermostat position made the car run more rich or more lean. Wasn't sure if it was true on ours or not"Owning a 9-second Import is like coming out of the closet.... At first it may be surprising, but in the end, you're still gay!"

The amount that the choke plate is open or closed makes the car run richer or leaner under choke on conditions. I don't remember which way you need to turn it. Whichever way is tighter (or closes the choke plate) makes it richer, obviously the other way makes it leaner.Builder/Owner of Badass Panther Wagons

well, CFI dont have choke plates
ALL the thermostaticlly controlled choke device physically does it hold a lever in a certain way to catch on another lever on the end of the throttle shaft, holding it open a little. Any rich/lean change is going to be made by the computer.... and there is no feedback sensor to give the computer any indication of choke, except maybe the TPS reading.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements
