    Transmission oil leak

    I just check my trany pan gasket and no leak I notice I had a wet spot under the transmission range sensor what do I need to do

                I believe there is a shift shaft seal where the MLPS (manual lever position sensor) lives. if thats bad, it'll leak. I believe you need to take stuff apart to get that out. The shift lever itself probably needs to come out, which requires dropping the pan. If its only a small leak, honestly I'd leave it alone.

                      Neutral Safety Switch on the older ones is in the same location.

                        It sucks to pull the seal for that.
                        Best quick fix would be to throw some RTV on it.

                            its leaking from the shift shaft seal. you have to remove the shift linkage and trans range sensor from the outside. Then remove the transmission pan, and shifter shaft, replace the seal and put it all back together.

                              what would be a good RTV that trans fluid won't eat through? My tail shaft seal needs some attn on the 93 and I think it's due to someone that worked on it scratching the damn thing.
