sounds like the OD band is baked/baking. whats the trans fluid look like?

Not sure what the fluid looks like, haven't checked since I had it changed. I'm pretty sure it's just the OD band is shot. Anyone know how much work that is? I can't afford to have a shop basically tear apart the whole thing, rather get it rebuilt or get a new one at that point. Trying to find someone who does transmission work at home who will do it for half what a shop would.88 Town Car (wrecked, for sale)
