    Swayze’s 84 to 05 Swap

So I moved on from just drive train swapping and went all in. The build is for my daughter. 84 Grand Marquis 2 door going on an 05 Grand Marquis chassis and drive train with only 60k miles.
Started actually working on this about 2 weeks ago. Covering some good ground. Big shout out to Serge for doing his build thread and also answering a few questions I had. Google images of his car actually put us on to the 2 door and the build. So far so good. Ran into a few body bolt issues but was able to cut access points to address it. I will try to add to this and provide better details along the way when I’m able to find time.

Pulled complete harness from the 05. Plan on using most of it in the swap.

Working on grafting the 05 cluster into the 84 dash. So far it looks promising.

Awesome!!! I always liked the original speedo cluster but the 05 looks surprisingly good in there too. Back seat looks great as well. Really really nice work so far.

We like the original cluster too but it’s tired lol and it just makes sense to use the plug and play cluster with the 05.

Awesome! Like the others have said...will be happy to see this thread progress.

The seat came out great. No harm in picking up new skills.

This is such a great build, good for you!
Serge is definitely the guy to talk to regarding swapping a box body onto a late model frame. He and i have had some differences over the years, but gotta give respect where it's due.
That seat looks amazing too holy crap

You do excellent work. Excellent job on the seat. It looks better than many established shops will do.
What will you do with the 84 Merc engine and trans ?
Look forward to this build. Thanks for the pictures

Thanks, that’s a very nice compliment, will likely sell other chassis etc. once I’m certain I have all I need from it

Got core modified and primed. I tried to show in one pic the adjustment needed. The 03 and up mount point is about 42 inches. The box is roughly 48 inches so the mount point has to be fabricated inward. You basically cut the bottom of the core support off as it no longer holds the core. Trim it flush across the bottom where mount hole is and then fabricate a bracket with a new mount point the correct width. Looking at the other posts about this it was not clear to me but once you get them both off and can visualize what needs to happen it’s a relatively easy fix.
