I am in the process of a new tranny filter, fluid, pan swap. I bolted the new aluminum pan on and then decided to look inside the old one and found a part... lesson learned for next time. Can anyone tell me where this goes? I'll look in my manual after I post this as well.

Nevermind... goggled it and found the answer on an F100 site.
"Ford uses it to plug the dipstick hole in the tranny before the dipstick gets installed. When the dipstick tube is installed, it falls on the bottom of the transmission pan. They all have one if the pan has never been off."
Happy I don't have to pull the pan back off. -
