Has anyone looked into the feasibility of using 98-02 rear brakes and parking brake cables for a box rear disc conversion? All of the OEM 97 and earlier parts have been discontinued. I can actually get all the OEM 98-02 parts off eBay for about $120.

You can make anything work. it all depends on how much effort you want to put into it. You will still need to fabricate something to connect the stock box cable to the whale cable. Though, assuming you're referring to the 90 Grand Marquis in your signature, the cables should match up just fine. That being said, the cables may work without any issues depending on how the calipers and backing plates are oriented between aero and early whale and you may have issues with bleeding the brakes. I mention this because at least regarding the 2003 rears, the ends of the axle tubes where the backing plates bolt to were rotated 90 degrees, which made the caliper bleeder screw not the highest point on the caliper, so bleeding them would require removal and using a block of wood to bleed.
