    axle o rings?

    The ford 8.8 r & p installation guide says when installing the axles

    "Do not damage the rubber o-ring in the u-washer groove"

    I have had a few 7.5 & 8.8's apart and know not of what they speak.

    Anyone seen them?

    Any potential problems in their absence?

    Talk amongst yeselves....

    Yes they are in the grove and provide tension on the c clip. Not sure what would happen without them. Looks like nothing but IDK for sure.

      never seen an O ring in the C clip groove or anywhere else on an 8.8 axle either. The Mark VII shop manual does specifically say "check for presence of axle shaft O-ring on the spline end of the shaft and install if not present".

      seems about all it might do is make the axle not make so much of a clunk sound when you move it in and out but I don't really see where it would affect function.

        That's good cause I already reinstalled the axles.
