    I just removed the steel rims from the trunk. I am starting to see why the cop was following me around today.. It must've looked like I had a few bodies in the trunk. Holy crap those stock steelies are heavy!

      Them stick-on weights on the inside only work if you got enough clearance for them - ran into that with a Toyota with some rare (for the US at least) factory heavy-duty can-carry-everything-under-the-sun forged-alloy wheels, their material was so thick there was minimal gap between the wheel and the brake caliper and thus the weights got knocked right off when the shop guys were backing the truck out after getting new tires.

      These wheels on that Crown Vic are already probably marred by the stainless rings, them things usually have some pretty strong springs that are excellent at digging into the paint of steel wheels down to bare metal, can't really see the soft alloy faring any better. Meaning the outside lip weights probably don't do any damage that's not already achieved by the trim rings, plus the trim rings hide them anyways, so meh, if it works it works.

      Btw nobody transports bodies in these cars anymore, and even back then the Lincoln TownCar was preferred for such activities - no self-respecting mafioso would wanna be mistaken for a copper by their peers, for more reasons than one

      Nokians are usually pretty nice tires, they got some winter models too that put the Blizzaks and Winterforce to shame. And yes, with bad wheels it does make perfect sense to go for replacing them first and then addressing body issues later.

        I was speaking in general. Like what was mentioned above about the trim rings. Its all covered up anyways.

          Yeah we've had a few carry in tires where people bring in nice new rims. I'm the guy people hate because I force them to do double stickies in order to not screw up the nice new rims. I'm a bit careful with rims. However so many we see coming into the shop are screwed up salt.

          Yeah the Nokian tires are very nice. Stiffer sidewall then the Viva 3's or the douglas Xtrac II's which I would never put on this car. I ordered in the tires and stuck them on. I am very pleased with the ride now, and it's really crazy just how just changing the rims changes the whole look of the car.

            My turbines have sticky weights on them - stacked on top of each other! I don't know what kind of tire shops they have in Petoskey but they're not worth a damn apparently. Those wheels look good on the car, helps with the ruggedness of it.

              The solution to the weights issue could be beads, and not the kind your girlfriend uses Actually in my case it would be exactly the kind Her Royal Bitchiness uses, and her sister too (inside their double-beadlock military surplus wheels). Use the stuff that's meant for that purpose tho, avoid for example buck shot as if it can tear up the insides of a LT tire the P-rated ones don't stand a chance. And with TPMS (which these cars don't usually have) you don't have even that option, but if all else fails there is always Centramatics balancing adapters - which admittedly won't be super pretty behind a large-voids alloy wheel, but hey, that's what we have high-temp caliper paint in bright colors, make them things glow

                I can tell you after 300 miles of driving on these new rims the world is golden
                The rim upgrade was worth it. Its nice having a comfortable quiet ride. Also I've noticed the car can accelerate a bit faster. Evident by being able to outrun everybody when the light turns green. The car has some pick up and go. I am guessing the lighter wheels helped dramatically. Fuel economy seems more stable too.

                  And as an added bonus I bet your axle and wheel bearings are much happier as well But yes, comfortable ride is very nice, why I'm riding on 4-corner air these days... Wouldn't know about quiet tho, the only way to somewhat drown out the engine is crank up the music, lol.
