    tires/wheels for '81 LTD

im looking at a used set of rims and tires from a 2008 mustang, and i need to know what size of wheel spacer i'll need to fit. my car is not currently drivable, and i need to get new tires bad as she's sitting on 2 tires that aren't holding air. at the same time i want to get rid of the ugly steel wheels and hubcaps that is currently on the car...

these are the wheel/tires im looking at...http://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/pts/4852418915.html

    and heres my car

any help y'all can give would be helpful!!!

Pretty big. I think 1.5" spacer is the standard starting point.

      Yep. 1.5inch.

I personally think the older bullitts look a bit better because of the sharper lines:

These are from years back when I used to run those wheels.. April 2011 to be exact.^

There are also stock offset wheels that you can find and they fit your car without spacers: HPP wheels....

These are the wheels I run now^

These I have as well..both are stock offsets. Sport wheels....

Ive had the bullits you are interested in just in the rears as well:

If I were you I'd look into stock 15" turbines if you want to run cheap tires, 16" from 92-02 car if you want a bit lower profile tires for better handling but still cheap tires. I can tell you those Pirelli PZero's don't grip well in the rain, my friend had them stock on his '12 Performance Pack V6 Mustang and he couldn't drive more than 55-60 mph without hydroplaning. For cruising 15" is all you need, lots of rubber to absorb the road and tires are very cheap, plus you can get raised white letter tires which look so cool.

I'd honestly be looking for a set of wheels that actually fits. There's nothing good about running spacers.

the car is not my DD and never will be. so if i can find a set of wheels and tires for cheap ill get them. my F250 is my DD as i need a truck for work(pulling boats)

as of right now the car is not drive-able, the exhaust is shot, and the carb needs either rebuilt or replaced. the fuel pump has a slight leak, and the brakes need work... i need a good set of tires on the car before our neighborhood code enforcement complains about car that doesn't run with flat tires in the driveway... if i can improve the look of the car while fixing the flat tires, ill keep my neighbors happy

Maybe for now just patch the leaking tires until you find what you want. It shouldn't be hard at all to find wheels with the proper offset, anything up to 02 will fit.

+1 maybe just fix-a-flat those tires?

Since you don't have snow/ice to deal with, just throw some used tires like the others said on the stock steelies for now and take the wheel covers off if you don't like them. I hate wheels covers too so if I buy a car with them, that's the first thing I do. That'll give you a few more months to find new wheels you like.

I suggest staying 15 or 16" wheels for cheaper tires, and going from steel to alloy wheels will be an improvement anyways so you don't need big wheels unless you really want them.
