Well, my power steering gearbox is leaking pretty good. Was quoted $500 to replace it, with parts and labor. Is the 98+ power steering gearbox really like $250? I would do the work myself, but its about to get into the negative temperature range, and I don't have a garage.

It's actually around 400 before the core is removed. Requires modification to steering shaft, power steering hoses and such. -

The car steers just fine now. I dont have any issues with it aside from leaking. If I had the space/time to do it myself I would do the upgrade, but I don't so its not really an option right now.

Is that the same torsion bar as the stock one, or is it fatter? Mostly the thing with the stock boxes is the weenie torsion bar. That, and they've mostly all been rebuilt so many times they are half shot right out of the box.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Imho it is not worth to do to a vehicle you are just trying to keep alive. If you wish to keep the vehicle for years and years to come as a weekend car/toy then I see doing these mods as worth it.~David~
