1991 Grand Marq Front Parking Brake Cable

The cable that goes from the parking brake pedal to down under the cat is frozen on my 91. I remove the under dash panel, the under dash trim panel with the light, the fuse box, and the 3 bolts holding the e-brake assy to the car. Good luck maneuvering it out though. WTF - how am I supposed to remove this thing? How am I supposed to remove the cable from the assembly?

This has the stupid push on/push off parking brake - no secondary release. Any tips/tricks? I don't have a service manual for this car as it will be for sale soon... any help would be really appreciated - it's going to go get painted this weekend

Ok - there's a dash brace that goes from the column to a nut that is welded to a bracket that is welded to the parking brake pedal assy. Remove this. I snipped the e-brake cable in a few spots since it was rusted up bad.

You'll have to remove the spring that puts tension on the e-brake pedal. Then you can slide out the cable end. Thread the new cable into the car - do not clip/click the retainer into the p-brake assy. Rotate the e-brake pedal as back as far as you can. Remove the spring. push old cable out. Thread new cable into car, again, don't lock it into the assy yet. Then position and install into e-brake, then align e-brake assy into position. Snap retainer into housing. Proceed with install back into car.

That job was not fun. Next up, shocks!
