    Is it easy to adjust the TV cable/shift points?

    Hello Again 2,

    Since my car is back on the road, I notice it shifts later than it used to.
    1-2 shifts around 25 mph. This is with a light throttle.
    2-3 shifts at 35 mph.
    It does not shift into OD until 60 mph. I've tried to make it shift into OD sooner but have no luck until 60 mph. In the engine miss repairs I've done the past 4-5 months the TV cable has been disconnected and reconnected numerous times. I think it could have misadjusted itself.

    Is it simple enough for me to adjust the TV cable?

    sounds like tv pressure is a lil high . . should be able to find the thread all about the tv cable adjustment to lower pressure a lil . . it doesnt take much to lower it from where it is now . .

      +1 TV cable too tight. Let it out about 1-2mm (or until you get the shifts where you want it).

        There is a proper way to do this with a gauge and a block of specific dimensions. Just sayin.


        or move it a smidge and see what you get. Err on the side of high pressure rather than low though. High pressure makes it shift late, low pressure makes re-builders happy.

        Something else you can look at, see what stops the throttle travel. If the TV cable stops moving before the throttle is wide open, its definitely too tight. You should be able to get max throttle opening at or slightly before the TV cable maxes its travel out.

          I forget, what speed should OD shift in at light throttle?

              my cars always shuddered at 45 . . i tried to set for 50mph or hair over

                my 88 would shift at 46/47 into OD after the HD rebuild and kick like a mule in the process. (firm shift) Took 5 years and 45K miles to take a little edge off that kick, but not much. When I put the 3.55 gears in, the shift point dropped to about 40.

                  The "A" servo seems to have a rather decisive clunk when overdrive engages. I know changing from the C servo to the A in the Mark VII was night and day difference, though there are a lot of other changes going on there now too.

                      i think of shifting like a manual transmission . . rather it grab instead of slip into gears . . i rather feel the shift also
