    grand marq parking cable install/adjust?

    Hi!

Tomorrow I'll be installing the new parking cables. Got the new rears inserted into the drums (and the drums assembled) but that's it.
Looks like my parking brake was nonfunctioning because the FRONT cable was frozen in its housing, but, I'm replacing it all.

I got the front cable out by cutting the cable, but I can't even see in there to get the end out of the mechanism (or the new cable's end latched into the mechanism).

What am I looking at removing to get to it? Do I want to pull the fuse panel, some trim, that vacuum module for the parking brake, etc., even get the whole pedal assembly out? The minimum possible, please; but I know without some direction I'll waste some time just pulling out parts that I don't actually need to pull out just to see inside.

Secondly, what kind of adjustment is involved? I hook it all up, and it'll work? Or do I need to figure out what notch the pedal should be on?
I'm nervous because I've only ever done 2 parking brakes before, and both were lever action. Advance a nut to tighten up the pedal to the right height, back off if you took it too far (and the parking brake was always on).
I'm not sure this is quite as simple as that? Is it?

    What are you working on?

If you can't see the pedal end of the cable from under the dash, you may have to remove the whole assembly and whatever is blocking it in. Try pressing the pedal all the way down and see if that gives you access to that end of the cable.
In boxes the only adjustment to the cable that I know of is going to be where the front cable joins the rears. Make sure your shoes are adjusted right, and you should only have to take the slack out of the cables (with the adjuster) to get them right. Test it out before you put the wheels back on - if you can't turn the axles by the studs with a long prybar, they should be tight enough. Just make sure they don't drag when you release.

ah, sorry, my 1990 colony park
ok, sounds like I have to remove the mechanism then. It rained today, didn't get out to work on it. Tomorrow.
