Looks like my '86 Tudor GM needs springs and shocks:-(

I would like to use springs and shocks for a station wagon, HD...........any suggestions?

Cargo coils for a wagon (straight, not variable rate) and kyb gas-a-justs all around will firm up that ride and give it a slight rake (ass in the air a bit).

I have the heavy duty cargo coils in the back, and the heavy duty in the front. Both Moog. I have Gas-A-Justs in the front and Monroe in the back. Sure did firm up the ride!

Just an FYI, the heavy duties in the front also give it lift the front too and they're a bitch and a half to get in. All in all, I'm happy with the change. My friend says it wouldn't be floaty enough for him if it was his car... to each's own.

For shocks police spec KYB gas-a-just will firm it up quite a bit
98-02 CVPI springs will raise the nose up a bit and stiffen it up a lot if you want to go that route

I want the factory height, but........with very stiff springs/shocks. You suggest 98-02 CV Police spring, will it fit my '86?

I would go the police package front springs 79-91. KYB shocks are very good. I also would add the police sway bar. I believe my old Mercury has the police sway bar and maybe the springs.

I am concerned that Moog springs will be too high looking! Can I still get OEM FoMoCo springs?

If you can get the part numbers from Ford, it is possible. Too bad I did not know you were looking. I scrapped two Police front springs when I was in Ca. in Jan.

Hmm.. I have MOOG 8652 Coil springs in the front of my car and it actually sits more like the third picture. It's got some height to it. I'll see if maybe I can get a picture up today for reference.

Probably. I didn't when I did mine. (But I still have a steering box I need to replace first) You basically have to remove almost everything out of the way to get the springs in and your alignment might get bumped out a little in the process.

Well that's good to know....was considering a set of the 8652's to slightly lower the front of my '87, currently has the stock police springs and I thought the 8652's might drop it a bit...perhaps not.

To change the springs, you have to separate the lower ball joints. I'd strongly recommend an alignment after taking things apart that far. I'd also put new control arm bushings and ball joints in there if you're into it that far. If the springs are done, the bushings and balls are probably even more done. Really, I'd give the whole front suspension a good looking at.
