    Drumming out a good response

    Anybody know what is a good manufacturer for Drums? Im not lookin gto spend a crazy amount for drums but at the same time, not looking to go to cheap

    AC Delco? Wagner?

      Wagner seems to make good stuff, I've always liked their brake products. There was a guy on ebay selling NOS ford drums. I bought a pair from him. I don't think this is the same guy but here is 1 link. Assuming you have the civilian 10" drums

          Thanks fo rthe link, I got a pair. Now Iam kinda wondering, if my rear is pulsating, could my rear rubber hose be the culprit?

            I don't know, but at 25 years old it's probably a good time to change it. Pistons and rear bearings too. When I do drum brakes I basically replace everything, hardware, etc, it's all so cheap, do it once and done for 100k, hopefully

              pistons?? you mean wheel cylinder right?

              Rear wheel bearings sound hard. I did front, but don't you need special tools for the rear?

                a slide hammer is pretty much the only special tool you need to change the rear wheel bearings. You do have to remove the axles though and that is it's own horrendous mess in itself (though no special tools required for that, it's just a stinky mess with the gear oil).

                  stinky reeky gear oil, ick. As mentioned, not actually hard, its just gross. If the rear axles have never been out, it would be worth pulling them for an inspection. If they are damaged, replace them before they break. I've been to that movie, and it sucked. it would have sucked a lot worse with drums. Also having been to the "wheel comes off the car at speed" film, I can tell you that one sucks too. With drums, a broken axle would have led to the wheel coming off the car.

                        ok, hey with the new drums, are you suppose to prep, clean/ sand them down before installing???
