I hear that. Fortunately, we actually have an air conditioned shop. That's part of why it's slow going. I pull the car in every now, and then.

and I went and looked. Factory trans cooler goes between the lower barb on the radiator and the line to the trans. I'm now curious if the factory cooler is on the cold side or the hot side of the in-radiator cooler.

I assumed the factory in-rad tranny cooler went from the top to the bottom. At least that's how I ran my lines when I converted it to my p/s cooler. Out of the gear box to the top of the rad, then out the bottom to the reservoir.

I meant the factory in-radiator cooler, not the external. I'd have figured flow was upwards through the radiator to make sure no air is in the cooler. I don't actually know how the external trans cooler itself is plumbed but I'd have assumed bottom to top there for the same reason. Obviously the Ford engineers do not agree.

on my vic it goes from trans to bottom of rad cooler to top of rad cooler to bottom of aux cooler to top of aux cooler back to trans.

but that's an afterthought cooler that was put on during the first trans rebuild.

I am talking about the in radiator one too. When I did the 5sp swap lost the need for the tranny cooler, so I converted it to a p/s cooler instead.

I know the coolers on the buses are plumbed to go into the rad first, then through the external cooler, then back to the trans which makes sense. If it were run the other way, what was cooled by the external would be heated up again in the rad. The bus cooler enters, and exits at the bottom, so it would not make a difference which goes to the rad, and which goes to the trans. I just need to know is the return out of the rad, so i can run that through the cooler. I'm almost tempted to pull one of the line off the rad, crank the motor, and see which way it flows from there. I wonder if the ford service manual will tell me?

Ah yes. Crossed it many times, just to get stuck on the Cross Bronx.

And it all comes down to this...............

Hey guys. Been busy as hell. It's amazing how many ways these idiots can break a bus!!! First off let me say that the steering is going to take a little getting used to. I'm not used to so much feedback. And forget pinky steering (LOL). But, I do like the fact that the steering seems to want to center itself after a turn. O.K, lots of pics. Some a little out of focus. Sry for that. Cellphone while trying to maneuver around. Of course, this is where it starts. The box is laying next to the car here. I started underneath first, with the seperating of the pitman arm from the centerlink.

Then I removed the intake tube/air cleaner assembly, along with the mounting bracket. I removed the steering hoses. Then I unbolted the pinchbolt for the flange plate. I don't have a pic, but then I removed the bolt from the upper steering shaft (WHAT A PAIN!).

A better pic of the pinchbolt removal. Here's the old shaft lying next to the modified one. And finally, the box out of the car.
