Is this a missing TV bushing ?

Is this a missing TV bushing? Engine knocks on hard acceleration after slowing down. Could this be the cause?

engine knock would be unrelated, but you area correct that there is no bushing on it. do tie that up securely in place before driving anywhere... and maybe you might be able to get the brass bushing for it. not sure if places will ship internationally, but look here and see.

edit: just checked... they don't ship to the east (middle or far), but that is what you're looking for.

now if the car is jerking at those points, yes, it could be related and the transmission may have suffered damage already.

It doesn't take long for damage to occur. I was 30 miles from home when my bushing failed. I drove it like a DOPE and after that it wouldn't stay in OD much past 60 (less if on an incline).

Luckily I guess the transmission isn't damaged yet. The car cruises smoothly at 120 kmph on the 2 hour trip to town. All gear changes are smooth in town driving. Only occasionally I hear a knocking when accelerating fast. Hopefully I will be able to find a bushing in the local market. . If the engine timing is off could it cause engine knock?

If it is too far advanced, yes.

crappy gas, over temp, ignition timing....running lean... There are tons of issues that cause detonation.
