    stock load leveling shocks?

I don't like air bags, just because it requires having a pump on hand... not automatic enough for me.
Noticed rockauto has cheap motocraft rear leveling shocks for sale.

How much work would be required to make them functional?
Those who have stock leveling, are you happy with the system anyway?

I presume it would mean an air pump (electric powered, pop it anywhere under the hood?), air lines back to the shocks, and a level sensor that would connect between the chassis and the rear axle somewhere.

Probably won't do it, but, contemplating.

The retrofit was not bad at all. A harness across the front of the engine bay, install the compressor near the water bottle
Run the air hose and electric sensor line to the rear under the driver side. Install the cotrol switch, install the new shocks, connect the air hoses to the shocks.

It works great but the ride is a bit rough unless there is weight in the back. i would say it is worthwhile. I am daydreaming about an air spring conversion.

I used to have it on my car. worked well, but my compressor had some issues and it kept leaking down. I have since removed it awaiting when I eventually put air springs in the back.

They are a bit stiff but they seem to have worn in after a few years. As far as I know it is only Gabriels or the Monroes for choices.

You have two ports on each shock currently?

The stock driver's side has 2 ports, the pass side has one. Its basically got a built in Tee. The aftermarket shocks have one port each, and you plumb those to the adapter tee that mates the stock size line to the smaller line for the aftermarket shocks.

I know I have to on the drivers side. Yeah, I don't really want to lose the comfy ride in the car, but I guess if it is the only two avail, I guess, thats it then

So what you are saying is instead of having a tee in the middle, it is built onto the drivers shock, and you run a line from the driver;'s shock to the passenger side?

Thats what the stock design is, yes. The aftermarket uses a tee and a single line from that tee to each shock.

These are pics of what I have on my 1989 town car. Any idea what these guys are? Are they heavy duty air shocks?

Yeah, I see the tears in the rubber, now I know why my compressor always runs! and why the rear sags! I take it I can't buy the facotry replacements?

Seems therre is Monroe 815, but I don't know if it will have the same feel
