Rebuilding Front End

    It's almost October. Usually this time of year goes by fast for me. I quickly find myself running out of working on the car weather. It's almost like a video game. I know I want to paint the turbines B-4 I throw them on for the winter.

        Yeah, I could wait, but they look like real crap and I've been wanting to clean and paint them since I got the car. That way it's not that much of a let down when I install them for the winter. The current condition of the front end is good. The bushings don't look bad, plus I'm nowhere near done with getting the other front end pieces finished. I still have to figure out how to install the UCA bushings. Perhaps I need to look a little harder. Somebody has to make a special fitting for the balljoint press because you can't get the UCA shaft in after the bushings are installed.

          I did a search for the bushing press sleeves and came up with nothing useful. I might try hammering in the UCA bushings with a bearing race and seal driver kit. We'll see how that works out.

            Hammering in bushings ... with new sleeves attached? Because the normal ES bushings slide right into your cleaned-out old shells once they're greased. I mean, there's some resistance, but it really doesn't take much effort.

              Mine seem to be sticky...........or as I mentioned before, I have the strength of a 6th grade girl. I noticed the ES supplied grease is thick and kinda sticky. Perhaps that has something to do with it? Though, my original bushing shells could be out-of-round as well. I don't know what the dealie is, but I can't press them in by hand. Meh, I just gotta man up and press it in somehow.

                slather some axle grease in the shells... or petroleum jelly... whatever slick stuff is on hand. grease both the shells and the bushings. It'll help lots.

                  Funny. Are you not using enough of the supplied ES grease? I know I bought extra along with my bushings, so I wasn't worried about skimping on it.
