We decided to go ahead and put a new rear end in my 91. One with less milage. Mine is basically shot...(240,000 miles!) About the only thing that was still good, was the ring and pinion, and the pinion has alot of wear where the bearing is... So it is a source of noise.... So, What year rear ends will fit my car? I found a 88 Grand Marquis with only 86,000 miles, I am going to look at it now... (In a local junkyard) Does the drive shaft have the "flange" on all years, and if not, can it be swapped? I thought my 88 had the old style "yoke" instead of the "flange" style like the 91's, but it has been so long since I had that car, I can't remember... I know the Grand Marquis rear ends are the same, (Other than maybe the flange / yoke setup) Will a Towncar fit? I was thinking they were a few inches wider.. And I think the wagon is wider, if I remember right. Any help is appreciated...
Oh, and what letter is the code for the 3.08 ratio, on the door sticker? Just wondering.
