You may be thinking of a thread from Pier ((pierre) 2000_p71)) had taken the body off the frame and posted a ton of pictures of the naked frame.
If I find that thread I'll post a link to it, but frame dimensions are in the respective service manuals and easy to get, I suspect it'll be an overall easy swap, may need to relocate a mount, take a sledge to some errant underside sheetmetal, or drill a hole somewhere but I would think its, in the grand scope of the project, a relatively easy drop on.

[Added pic I have from that, its a 2003 crown vic. Those of you intimately familiar with the box frame may see something that may be problematic]

I thought factory service manuals cost $40 each from Helm, Inc. (as of several years ago) and even then it's a complete crapshoot as to whether you chose the manual that contains the info you want? I got to pay a restocking fee when the phone goon wouldn't tell me which one I needed and my guess turned out to be wrong.

to Ford for ever introducing that stupid bayonet upper shock mount, and even more so for apparently never ditching it. :nonono:

Should have asked us first which you needed. ;-)

Trying to remember whether that was before GMN was started .... oh well, at least I have a fighting chance of getting help with such a decision should it come up again in the future.
