another random question, but is there anything that will interchange without too many mods from a 67 Galaxie 500?

Uh, 03 and up are rack and pinion. 98-02 are recirculating ball, just like the 79-01. In fact the 98-02 steering box is a common upgrade for the older boxes.

It would be easier to modify the crossmember for a rack then to swap frames

Only if the Galaxie has a 289 or 302 and a C4 Transmission. I thought of putting my 428SCJ in a Panther but I ended up getting a 69 Montego instead. Much less work and less weight.
What kind of extra Galaxie parts do you have?

The best thing to do is to pick up a frame and start taking measurements. There are/were several 2003 and newer bodies in bone yards from Oshkosh to Green Bay.

I was always thinking about putting a box body on the 2000 + frame, after removing the body off of a running 2000+ vehicle... Another words, use the entire chassis for the swap... Engine, trans., rear end, suspension... sort of a complete update on the box...

might as well set it on a marauder chassis.

That would be good too.... Imagine when a mechanic looks under the hood.... (Like at a Ford dealer) That would be funny!!!!

I remember about 4 months ago or so that someone bought a Black '86 Grand Marquis and wanted to swap in a Marauder driveline and whatnot into it. I haven't heard anything from that thread lately. But somebody has to do this shit, otherwise, we'll never know if it works or not. Same thing with independent rear suspension!

This was brought up on CVN and I thought someone had actually done it.

how about puttin a 80s frame under a 98-02 body? i got a 02 towncar and wanna put a 80s towncar frame under it for the rear suspension. plus i know i can get a 80s frame a lot cheaper then a 98-02 frame. its gonna be a lowrider so i wanna reinforce the frame with 1/4" steel

Why would you wish to do that? The rear suspension is better in 98-02. The chassis parts are easier to get. Why would you use 1/4" steel for anything? The weight gain is significant and not necessary.
