Hey guys I tried to find a thread like this but no luck. I want to fit my GM with all new rubbers and since I wore out my tires to the wires I wanted to fit big tires. Now I have the standard 15" turbines and I was wondering if any one has any pictures (if its not a bother) just to see how they would look. I'm not sure of the size I want to put on but the have to be big and chunky I find it gives the car a akward yet angry stance thanks.

ya I'm leaning more into the 235/70R15 but now there all selling winter tires on kijiji so I'll wait for the summerComment

235/70/15s will likely rub on the front, and if you put them on the rear your gearing will be "higher" (numerically lower) meaning your acceleration will take a hit. Your speedo will also be off significantly. at 100kmh you'll be showing only doing 95kmh.

Ahhh well I knew about gearing it up and all but didn't know that about the speedo. If any thing does any one know what make and model tires come stock with our cars. Well I mean the ones with the little white wall thanksComment

the tires that originally came on these cars varied, but they're all long discontinued.

The sidewall style is listed, but general consensus is that whitewall tires tend to be an older and less effective design. It's nothing inherent to whitewalls, it's just that the only newish cars with this tire size are minivans, so when new designs come out in this size they rarely feature whitewalls.

I have these on the back of my car and they fill it out well you might be able to fit a little bigger if your still running the stock ride height. BFGoodrich T/A, P 275 /60R151984 CV tudor 351W, 4bbl, 5-speed best time in the 1/8 8.39 at 80 with 1.80 60ft time.

I just got 224/75R15 tires today for my wagon, to put on the stock 15" wheels.
I know about the speedometer. Only being off by 5% isn't so bad anyway!
I'm hoping that even with less acceleration, I might actually get better fuel economy at 70mph; engine should be doing fewer rpms in theory.
Basically bought them for being on sale, but the previous owner provided 225/75R15 snow tires for the rear, so it ought to work!Comment

Gas mileage goes up until you go past 30" in diameter with the stock gears, in general, but only on the highway. 235/70-15's only rub close to full lock. In normal driving they wont and they wont hurt anything if they do.1989 Grand Marquis LS
