88 Town Car what AOD will fit?

So My Town Car does not have 4th gear at the moment and needs to be swapped. From which cars can i get the AOD from? I only ask because i have heard that the Town Car has a specific trans that is longer than the regular ones.

    Thankss

you might also check F-series trucks and vans....I think we all came to the same conclusion, that they are the same length as the Lincoln units....but measure them, of course.

Only reason i could think is because it would be the newest in age?

The gear selector mechanism changed in 90, you might have to open the pan up in a 90+ trans to swap the trans lever (if that part is different) to make it work in a 88.

Yeah it's one of those one-year items like the lincoln log exhaust manifolds and the fan shroud with integrated water bottle.

lincoln logs= the tubular exhaust manifolds that they only used on the 1990 town car
integrated water bottle= the coolant overflow tank is mounted on the fan shroud and the washer tank is mounted to the inner fender......again the coolant bottle on the fan shroud was only used on the 1990 town car
