Well, lots of thinking but no actual progress.
Wishing I still had the explorer diff cover. Also thinking the explorer might be a source for the longer axles I need, so I wouldn't have to go custom. Just need to know the spline on the axles on the 'sploder.Builder/Owner of Badass Panther Wagons

This is the cover IIRC (I had an Explorer loaner a few years ago):
