    sway bars?

    Hi;

    I've seen lots of people mention the sway bars they've added to their early '90s grand marquis'

    Did these cars come with sway bars from the factory, and people are upgrading? Or did they simply not have them to begin with?

    I recently bought a 1990 colony park, and I'm thinking of upgrades to perform, for the sake of the car, but also for self-education. Does it already have a sway bar? Something to consider working on?

    You should already have a front sway bar. Rears are another matter.

    Could a mod please move this to the suspension forum?

      rear sway bars come off of police issue cars.. you can buy aftermarket too. I have an aftermarket one under mine, and it makes a huge difference.

        There is also the 1/2" "civilian" rear swaybar (what I have). These came on non-police cars (and wagons) with the "handling package". The police cars had the HPP, or "handling and performance package and their rear bars are 1" thick.

          Apologies about the misplaced forum posts; I had a bunch of questions all at once and didn't look carefully into the categories :-(

          So, I don't have a rear sway bar (I can safely assume my car is stock all the way). Where do I get a 1" rear sway bar for a 1990 colony park? How much are they? I'd be interested in a bit tighter handling

            Find a box police car in the yard that has the rear sway bar. Or I think there is one in the for sale forum (I could be wrong)

            EDIT: Nevermind he sold it.

              Aftermarket are slightly better in design if you can't find one of a police car your same year.

                  This is the difference in box sway bars: from the bottom 1/2" civilian bar, 1" PI bar, and a PI bar from a 97.
