Tire Size

Well, I called about the wheels today, and I found out it would just be cheaper to get the tires along with them. So I haven't ordered them yet, and from the search function, I have come up with two tire sizes for 17x8 inch wheels:
255/50-17
255/45-17

For those of you running that wheel size, what size tire do you have? Would you opt for a different size? My goal is to keep the speedometer as accurate as possible, while not having the car look like it has too small of a sidewall. (waiting for 83countrysquire, 87gtVIC, or Blaze to post any time now )

I have General Grabber UHP's 255 50 17's all around...They look a tab big for the fronts If it were available I think I would have gone for a 255 45 in the front and what I have now for the rear....I also have cargo wagon springs in the back so that may make front wheel wells smaller as well..but I definitely would have like a smaller tire up front...for looks. With these tires though the car feels like it is on rails.

Here is my car with wagon cargo coils and stock from suspension with 255/45/-17s all around I kinda wish I went with 50s to have more side wall to fill in wheel wheels but I am gunna be throwing in speedway springs soon all around and lower it a bit from where it sits right now, 175s in back and 900's in front I think.

well, from going off the pictures of both cars, I'm gonna say probably 50's, the 45's honestly look too small on stock ride height (no offense), and the 50's would probably look better with an even stance. I might have to go with 45's when I order the speedway springs, but as of now, I think the 50's are the way to go. I can't wait!!!! :woot:

Yeah thats why I am lowering my car cause I agree 45s looks stupid but I got the tires for 70 bux cant complain.

I run 255/45/17 on my car when I can't swing the money for the 275/40/17s, they are both the same overall diameter.

I would get the 225# springs for the rear if you're running the same sized tire on all fours. The 175# springs seem to make my mom's CV sag slightly with the turbines. With the staggered summer tires they're about even.

Hemihotrod: I would chose the 255 50 17 for all four corners or at the least in the rear. I wish that I had gotten 17x8s all around rather than 17x7 front and 17x8 for the rear.

I know, Im just trying to figure out if the 275's would work on a narrower width
