Lots of the Honda crowd runs aluminum lug nuts FWIW if you could find them for our thread pattern, they come plain or chrome or anodized all different colors.

One thing I notice is that the ones pictured don't have the little shoulder at the base of the hex to keep the socket from marring the wheel face.

I've been in a car drifting at about 50mph and the front wheel came off because the aluminum threads sheared off (luckily we were on a track and had plenty of run off room). I had told him just days prior that he should really get rid of the aluminum lug nuts. I would not recommend them for anyone anywhere that I didn't want to die.

The actual lugs nuts are long enough that it is not even a concern of mine. No way of a socket marring the wheel.

Wad up a piece of rag and shove it in the socket to keep it from bottoming on the wheel.

As for aluminum lug nuts... No way in hell would I trust that.
Stay away from stainless steel lug nuts as well since they WILL gall.

                    Alex.

Aluminum is soft metal. Why on earth would any sane person caring about their car use that.

Thankfully, they're not expecting me to return 160 lugnuts to them.
Wanna sell me some lugnuts? The Mark VII has those shitty chrome cap lugnuts, and the caps are all borderline falling off.

What the fuck? I would've thought they'd use a steel core with an aluminum shell.

                              Nope, just pure aluminum fail.

I thought of this thread while I was shopping on the Fastenal website, and noticed that they list a few lugnuts made of stainles steel. Won't rust, probably have to inquire regarding hardness requirements though.

                                Hopefully this link works: http://www.fastenal.com/web/products...99891349&Nty=0
