Also, you will want the longer tranny tailshaft from a cvpi or a towny.

I was under the impression that if you had a box aluminum driveshaft, it was a direct swap for a box steel driveshaft. I was thinking the conversion stuff was only needed if you were putting a later model aluminum driveshaft in a box because they're bigger? Or is it just you need the one conversion joint at the differential end, and keep the trans yoke with the aluminum shaft?

It has been a direct swap for my 90 and 91's. My original 90 GM had an aluminum DS. I have swapped it onto both of my cars since then. No extra parts needed.

Also check RockAuto for those U-joints. May be cheap.

on a vic or a gm....yes by using conversion u-joints and the box yokes.......the town car driveshaft is longer, so you need a town car aluminum driveshaft

Going from '89 to '90+ you need the conversion joint for the rear. '89 and older had the same pinion flange adapter. '90 and newer had the same pinion flange adapter. A shaft from a '90 will not directly bolt to a '89.

Just swap the flange. No big deal. I have the 90+ flange on my 89 and an aluminum shaft.

Its Worth It,2 Hp At Most 92-98 Police Cars Have Them. If You Dont Get The Conversion U-Joints Just Make Sure To Get The Rear Pinion Flange You Will Also Need The Rear Tailshaft Housing From That Same Vehicle Or Any Police Interceptor With An AODE Most Scrap Yards That Pull The Parts Themselves Wont Sell Part Of The Trans Or Rear So Opt For A (U Pull-It) Type Of Salvage Yard Where You Can Have Your Way...Also Older Pre 87 Vics And Marquis Have A Way Bigger Crossmember From The Factory Same For Police Interceptors Only Thing Is If You Use A Interceptor Crossmember The Holes Need To Be Enlarged On The Ends Either Or Its Still A Great Mod And Direct Bolt In. The Tailshaft Housing Is Needed Because The Interceptor Front Yoke Is Over An Inch Longer And Its Slightly Bulkier And Your Old Tailshaft Bushing Wont Allow It Much Past An Inch And You Need The Rear Pinion Flange Because The Rear Yoke Is Bigger. 92 to 98 Interceptors Have An Aluminum Driveshaft 99 to 01 Interceptors Have Aluminum Metal Matrix Composite MMC Driveshafts Which Are Rated Safely To 180 MPH These Same Driveshafts Are Stock In Mauraders And Are $400 Brand New

I am very confused with the way he actually went to the effort of capitalizing the first letter of every single word in the post. It's like German where all the nouns are capitalized except he's done Every Single Word.
