has anyone ran Exploder Rims on a box?

I was at the yard on half day and I was on the hunt for some Mark 7 rims but i didnt find any however I came upon a full set of 97 explorer tear drops and centers sittin on a C4C'd V6 explorer so I grabbed em and fit em to a box out there in the yard and they fit fit. I went ahead and bought em cause I had this idea to paint the rim black and leave the shiny center cap shiny, sort of like a faux cop wheel. my question is has anybody else ran the exploder teardrops or anything like em on their box? I know they make em in a bigger 16in size too mine are 15s and they are light too.

Bad idea. It makes them explode. They're called Exploders for a reason you know. The rims are made from pure C4, jounce it the wrong way and kaboom!

I've seen it as well. Looks fine. Not sure how I'd feel about your plan to paint them, but natural they looked good.

          I have...

It was about a year ago tho, and I only had them for about a week or so and re-sold them. They looked pretty nice on it. But it sat up like a truck, and I didnt like the ride, but it was expected since it had truck tires lol.

But here are a couple pics i took with them on, I dont have any of it with the fronts on though, since i had my skinnies on, as you can see. lol

Those do look nice. Anyone know if the offset is close enough or if you would need spacers with them?

When you say light do you mean light for aluminum rims or are they as light as steel rims? I've noticed that most aluminum rims I've had in the past were way heavier than same size steel rims. I was going to just stick with steel rims for that reason but if the explorer rims are just as light, they look nice and I think I've seen a number of them in the scrap yard that I go to(its been a while though).

when I had the truck tires dismounted I picked em up and I liked the weight that they were. pretty light because ive noticed some aluminnum wheels are heavy too. today at work I saw a 97 explorer limited and that had some sick lookin wheels on it from the factory that would look plain dope on a boxed vic. im still gonna paint em flat black with a shiny center cap cause i wanna be different.

they will work fine - iirc explorer wheels are a little wider so you can get away with a wider tire too.

I think Mike had the early Explorer wheels on his '87 at one time. I've never seen a box with those wheels, but I remember him telling me that they looked right on there.

Tear drops look great on boxes. If I could find a nice set of them that weren't corroded to hell I'd get them.
