It depends what effect you want out of the different spring. Are you looking for more ride height or a stiffer spring? or both? or one but not the other?

both, I think. The springs are probably original and the arse end is sagging a bit too much with the ballast I have in the trunk. I'm going for the rake that most people on here have with the rear slightly higher than the front...Most seem to use stock fronts but wagon rears and varying types of shocks. What do you think?:

The front springs/shocks have way too much give. I know the motor is a heavy bastard and the front end will be weighed down accordingly but after a gradual hump in the road at speed, it'll dip and rise a few times before settling out.....I can only really describe it as "floating", but not the good kind. It's supposed to do this normally but not this bad I don't think. Doesn't take turns terribly well (at least not as well as my old Merc did). I know a bigger front bar and the addition of a rear PI bar would help that, but springs and shocks need doing anyway.

        ballast?
Sounds like rear waggin springs and f-150 shocks are what you want. New shocks up front too of course.

So, stockers up front and wagon springs and F150 (what year?) RWD shocks in the back? Will there be any difficulty (or modification required) using the F150 shocks in place of OEM?

Getting a bushing sleeve out of the eye.
Go see the f150 shock thread that should be on the first or second page here in suspension.
