sounds like it needs some grease, and some adjustment.

you can adjust the indicator by pulling out the speedometer, and playing around with the spring attached to the indicator needle. See if you can find anything about how to do a speedo swap, and that should get you going in the right track (just you would be working with 1 speedometer, not two)

PS, Im not going to lie, this thread wierded me out for a minute. i first see "was fine now very stiff" and then they first line "when I bought my latest woody". lol

      hope this helps. oh, and

I strongly advise anyone to not mess with the spring the gear selector is attached to. The way to adjust the indicator is by removing the lower steering column trim as well as the piece below the steering column attached to the dash. Then you will look for a white collar around the gear selector shaft. There will be a bolt (8mm iirc). There is where you make your adjustment.

Often that collar is broken too, which causes the indicator to not line up correctly. A zip tie usually fixes it, but new ones are available from Ford for about 20 bucks each.

I'd be getting under the car and looking to see if anything got bent/knocked about during shipping, especially since it worked fine while it was still in N.A.
