    Axle swap question

    Has anyone researched weather the F-150 rear axle shafts are compatible w/31 spline diff in a wagon?

    I have like no time to go to the junkyard & pull a set to measure them......

    No, but I can garuntee that it will NOT work.

    Wagons do not have 31 spline axles. And trucks use wider, much heavier axles. The only pre-03 panthers that use 31 spline axles are limo package cars.

      I am having a fun time w/a diff/gear swap.

      I have a 28 spline trac-loc from an old project, I took it out of storage to put it into the blue wagon & found that 2 of the 8 clutch tabs were broken, so I started to re-clutch it & found the spider gears were all cracked....

      That's why I was contemplating a diff & axles from a truck.....

      I now think I have a line on a used 28 spline t-loc, but I won't know till Monday @ the earliest....

      How do you identify Limo Pack cars?

            99% of ford ranger 8.8's are 28 spline. (no idea if the width is right though).
            Unless it's an FX4 with a torsen diff, it should be 28 spline.
