    BBS Brake line adapters.

The guide for my BBS I have been using is this one below.

    Its says:
    "small but important:
standard to metric brake line adapters (the newer brake hoses are a metric thread) 3/16" size I believe NEW self-locking nuts ( 5/8" - 18) for the upper control arms, unless you want to re-tigten them regularly 16" WHEELS OR LARGER are need to clear these brakes."

Im not understanding it. First off, where does the addapter go? Between the caliper and the brake line or the brake line and the frame hook up? Also, From what size to what size. He states "I believe" so Im a little worried about geting the part. I think it needs to adapt a 3/16 size to 5/8 - 18 size. Is this correct? which size should be male or female? please advise.

LOL, that quote is from different lines... I'll have to work on that...

I have the adapters downstairs at home.. I'll see if they are labelled with size..(at the least I can get you a part number)
The adapters go between the metal LINE and the HOSE. (think about it, you are using 98-02 hoses and calipers)

Suspension, Chassis, Drivetrain, Brakes. Everything to do with handling. Also includes transmission discussions.

    We just don't know!!!!

adaptor is a weatherhead part # 1441. I got mine at Napa.
you need this adaptor to connect the newer style brake hose to the metal brake line at the frame.
You can clearly see the adapator in this picture.

Couldn't we also do it by cutting and reflaring a brake line with the required metric fitting? Granted this is the less-involved way, but I'm just curious since I have flaring tools and have never done the brake lines in my car.

i tend to leave the front lines alone if they arent rusted and the fitting breaks free......there is not enough straight tube there to get the flaring tube and the flare nut on the end there, then you have to fight getting the original line off of the prop valve.....if the lines are rusted and need to be replaced, well then make new ones with the metric fitting on the end for the 98-02 brake hoses

Well, yeah, that's what I was saying. I've never done lines on my car and if I decided to do front brake lines at the same time, I could cut and reflare the new line for a metric fitting. Last I looked the car's lines were in pretty decent shape anyway though so I might just use adapters like most everyone else.

yeah the adapter fits fine scott had to heat up my connector on my original hose as it was a little tight lol it should not be much for the connector less the 3.00 each for the fitting I believe. scott got mine at advance

Ok, I can't get a hold of these damn things. I went to napa and asked for the weatherhead fitting with part number 1441 and he said he couldnt do a search via part #. I called Eaton who I guess makes weatherhead and the guy said its a good part number. The fitting is a female standard 3/16 to a metric male that is also 3/16. He called it a 3/16 bubble. It made no sense to me. however, At least now I know what to ask for. They said that they didnt sell them direct to the public and I would have to go to a dealer such as: NAPA!!!!! Back to square 1.

I bought mine from autozone or advance....and still have em in the basement...

did you try and ask for a 3/16" metric brake adapter fitting? I bet they do have it, they just don't know what they are doing or what you are asking for...

I asked for a 3/16 standard to metric adapter and they had no idea. There all stupid. I bet its right there behind the counter someplace.

I feel your pain. I really hate going to a store, knowing damn right well they have what I'm after, but end up leaving without it because I didn't know the magic word needed to communicate my needs to someone who could get the part to me.
