    custom rear control arms

is there anyone here who has built a custom set of rear upper and lower control arms? i've been toying with this for my '96 for awhile now, i have a good idea about what i want, but i just thought i'd get some feedback and/or suggestions before i dive too deep into this.

buy the right legnth swedged steel tubing from speedwaymotors.com add the rid ends and cut spacers to center them. pretty easy, and since you have an aero the sway bar mount is not on the arms so its not a problem

I did adj lowers years ago. I am going to do the uppers soon. Have the ends at least the ends for the axle housing still deciding if I ant to use the other end and which bushings I want to use.

I just did poly bushings.... I outhandle porshes, wrx's, miata's, mustangs, and anything else anyone shows up in....

Still would like to do the rod ends and tie rod tubing arms. They are cheap and easy to make. Just can't justify it with how well the car currently performs!

thought about boxing them, but i like the challenge. and i don't know too many folks with custom control arms on their panthers, let alone ones homebuilt.
one other question....does anybody know what size bolts are used for the trailing arms? it's quite cold outside and i don't feel like climbing under my car to check....that and i'm kinda lazy...

from an engneers stand point having the threaded rod so close to the middle of the upper arm is not a good idea strength wise. Otherwise good job.

thanks, but i must say the uppers are some BMH parts that i extended. but they are where they are because of how long the turn buckles is. it goes in each side several inches (just about what you could imagine could be in there all the way. )
im not to sold on the adjustable stuff, its nice so i can change the pinion angle. but i dont like the idea of them turning them selfs when i 3 wheel alot.

those look awesome! that's pretty much what i planned on doing as well. where did you get the spherical bearings on the lowers? also, where did you get the parts (other than the tubes) to fabricate the uppers and lowers?? also what thickness of tubing did you use?

the spherical bearings for the lowers came from Suicidedoors.com as did the other ends. they will not fit the lincoln stock. they are 2-5/8" wide. the tube is 2x2x.250. but my application calls for overbuiding.
