      Almost there

Ok, Im getting there, I know Im being a pain, But Im confused about the years. On my first post, I though I could just use this check list to find what I needed from the bone yard. I learned that It may be difficult to find what I want. I would like to create a plan "B".

I like Lincolnmania's low budget back up plan listed below.

"if it were me on a low budget?
i would find a k code (3.55 trac lock) out of a box wagon
      harvest the rear disc goodies
put it all together and install it .

Say I find a 8.8 with trac loc but no discs.
Im confused about the years. If I do it lincolnmania's way, What is the range of years I should use to look for a donor vehicle's rear end I need. Moreover, what is the range of years I should use for the other donor vehicle's rear disc brakes?

Ok, I think I got it. Is this correct???
        Pull a 79-91 rear end.
pull a 92-97 rear disc brake stuff.
        combine it.

when I did my swap i searched a few yards websites and found the exact rear end that i wanted. 3.73 and posi. turns out that both the gears and posi were shot. make sure you know exactly what you are getting.
              What happened here?

it ended up costing me about $1000 for a new set of gears installed and now about another $1000 for the posi, or so Ford says.

Why would it cost another grand to install a traction lock unit? They're not nearly that expensive, and go in at the same time the gears go in.

You're probably gonna need that gear for your speedometer so your speed is accurate.
