I have seen 2.5 tons break in mud trucks. Not really that hard to do. But most people with rockwells run ag tires and 500+ hp. Im adding the measurements of my current fender heights, top of the wheelwell so I can calculate the lift later. Front currently sits at 32" and the rear at 30 and 7/8". Ive about got the tranny and t case out of my bronco. Pics when I get it out.

Most rigs are built to dig through the mud so they can grip at the bottom of the hole. If it's not built to do that then it's not built right.

Thing is the truck frame is heavier and much more sturdy- and it's designed for the mounting points of the truck suspension. A panther frame is is about as sturdy as jello behind the rear control arm mounting points and spring perches. And it ain't to study forward of that either.

Im adding 4 crossmembers to the frame. It should be stiff enough when done. I disagree with the truck frame being heavier. My bronco frame is about as stiff as a soft pretzel. Its bent and twists all the time.

most trucks will flex several inches between the cab and bed. id imagine that a CV would be stiffer since the body adds some rigidity. just dont open the doors with it twisted

You can open them, just don't expect to be able to close it when you're flexed out on a climb.

Being boxed as it is, the Panther frame is really sturdy compared to a lot of the frames out there. People wheel on stock CJ frames all the time, despite that they're rusted to about paper thin.

It's twice the size and thicker....So, yeah I think it's heavier duty and stronger.

I don't see how a crossmember will help the weak point I'm thinking of.

A half ton frame isnt any thicker. Taller yes but not thicker. And the car frame is boxed. I could 4 link it in the rear. I got the lower control arms built already.

Yeah it's an AMC Eagle. Concords were 2wd and Eagles were 4wd.

s_p, the 4link will be simple to do, and i would actually recommend a d44 from an isuzu rodeo, 98 or later. why? well the obvious first: its a d44. second, you get disc brakes (standard on the isuzu). only downfall....you need to convert the front to 6 lug.

go for the project mang, build it piece at a time.
