I've installed a few steering gears in my car and the toe had to be adjusted every time. As some of the previous posters stated, different tolerances in the box. Installing the pitman arm 90 degrees off AND attatching it to the center link AND making it work is impossible.

I just installed a used 99 PI gear the other day and had to center the wheel via the tire rod adjusting tubes.

my steering wheels never been straight... I dont think its helped me much in those few occasions where i've lost the ass end and never recovered properly

if everything is installed correctly and your alignment is true, you shouldnt have to adjust anything but the tie rod ends to bring the wheel straight..
Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will promptly forget that he once did not know, and proceed to call anyone who asks, a n00b and flame them on the boards for being stupid.
