    Rear Drum Brake Upgrade

    I've been searching for my original thread on brake upgrades, but I could only find the newer one. Anyways, after failing to install the new front rotors and performance pads, I realized that my rear drums were making the majority of the grinding noises that I have been hearing lately. So, was there an upgrade like cop rear drums or a heavy-duty package with larger rear drums? If I am going to take them apart I figured that I would replace them with something better. Oh yeah, I don't want to tackle the '92+ CV rear discs because I heard that ya gotta change the rear lines over from metric to standard and mess with the e-brake cable and brackets as well. Right now I want to keep it simple.

    there are 11" drums for the rear, but you might have to change the backing plates anyway

        yep, diff plates. its about the same work to do discs honestly, they're not that big of a deal to install. Easier to find too.

          Okay, I might just get new drums and a rebuild kit for the rear. Hopefully the new brake pads for the front won't break off like the ones I just had.

            Quick Question; Hopefully.

            What is the burnishing or bedding procedure for new brake shoes and drums? None of the replacement parts has instructions if there are any.

              1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt

                Stop a few times after you install the brakes.
