how big can i go in the back?

and i'm not sure how big i can go in the front without rubbing. airshocks in the back and stiffer front suspention is going to be done also, not lowering it though.

I have a 275 60 15 on the rear of my vic, you may want to roll the lip though.

His car is too nice to roll the lip and risk messing it up. I have 275 60 15;'s on 15x8's on my car, and they used to rub (with rear passengers) when I hit a bump. Wagon springs (which settled to a perfect height), and F150 shocks, and there is no more rubbing with the back seat loaded.

Im running a 255/70-17 in the rear. Absolute max on the height I'd say. I could go to a 75 series I think but it would be too close for comfort.

With the proper springs 31x10.50 is max. And they will rub on sharp corners. Doesnt hurt anything but they will rub. No rubbing i'd say 235/75-15.

If I were you, I would go with 255/60/15s in the rear. and then go with 235/60/15s in the front

295/50/15 and 245/60/15 (or 265/50/15 if you like Cooper Cobras) might be a good option if you get just the right wheels .... this is what I want to do with the 15x8.5 and 15x10 wheels I've got 255/60s and 275/60s on right now. They would probably fit correctly if I had zero offset wheels, but mine were used and are negative offset (can't fit on a sedan without adding rear wheel flares), plus I'm just not nuts about the look of a 28" tire.

Proper offset is the key here. Anything with less than 4" is going to have some contact issues, or at least be really close to the fender lip. My thoughts would be to get a wheel with at least 4.5" of backspacing, then you shouldn't have too much trouble.

Now, if you had a wagon....I have gotten 15x12 Draglites (5.5 or 6.5 backspacing, I can't remember) with 14" wide tires in the wheelwells, but it was right at less than an inch on the backside, and required trimming the outside lip a bit...

Ain't that the truth. Ask a lot of folks about mods for your Crown Vic or Grand Marquis and you can get some incredibly weird looks ..... gets discouraging after a while, and it becomes tempting to think you should just hop on the bellybutton bandwagon and get a Mustang, personal preferences and self-respect be damned. :p Since then I've finally accepted that this is one of those areas in which you just have to know how to do what you need, or know someone who knows ... and this is a great place to know people who know.
