I've got a 02 Pi box and can do single finger steering. Our old lincoln versailles was dangerous to drive with more than a pinky...lOL

I can drive my car with a pinky now, but with the original box it would damn near turn itself if you concentrated hard enough. Whenever I drive a stock box it takes me a few minutes to get used to the steering in them now that mine feels so different.

My '82 feels like manual steering on the open road. It's not fingertip steering at all! There is a huge difference between it and my '87 and '88. You get the feeling of the road at speed but the assistance of power in the parking lot. It might just be my car, but at 124K miles, its not exactly low mileage.

i moved the car last week, could not drive far since i still have not replaced the blown master cylinder. it is kinda tough to steer, but managable. at normal speeds i think it will steer just fine. just parking and such is a little difficult.

what i ended up doing is just draining all the fluid out of the box. i could not get it apart enough to disassemble the valve. teh resistance comes from the pump pushing fluid. if you can get the pump apart you can just fill the box with ATF and your good to go.

You talking about the PS pump? I took mine off and moved the alt to the passenger side. I have mine disconnected from the pump and the lines looped. Its ok when the car is in motion but its real difficult especially with 245/45/17s up front when the car is stopped. I really want to get a stang rack up front but that wont happen for a while. $$$ is tight again.

i was talking about the servo in the box that acts like a pump with fluid in it. drain the fluid out and it will be easier to steer

duce, if you still wanna go to a manual steering, you can also use a steering quickener on that high ratio box, couldnt you? like a 1.5:1 or 2:1
