    rear drum brake not engaging

Hey guys, just wondering why a drum brake would stop working. Its actually on my 85' F150 but it has a 8.8 [dont know if its the same exact setup as my lincolns..] Does it need a new cylinder or a rebuild kit or what?

The parking brake also sucks and does not stop the truck from rolling. any ideas?

    Try adjusting it?

Unless you pull it apart it will be tough to tell. Might just need shoes

Yeah, pull the drum off and see what you can see. There's a lot of stuff in there and it likes to seize up, so it's entirely possible the self-adjuster is frozen. Regardless of whether it is or not, take it out and make sure it turns freely and grease it up real well. When I did the rear brakes on mine, I found the self-adjuster cable was broken (rusted in two...lol) so check that as well.

way out of adjustment would be my first guess, or a bad cylinder. Even if the cyl was bad, the parking brake should work tho. Adjustment would affect the parking brake.
