Just got my car running for the first time since Wedsday. Had a couple major temperature changes since then. Took it out for a drive and its all over the road, all the tires are low, so I gotta drag the compressor outside tommorow. Don't... we sell that stuff at my store and I've heard bad things about it. Apparently it works great until the time comes to take the tire off that wheel. From what I've heard it sticks to the wheel and just makes a big mess. Just have a tire shop find and fix the leak so you don't have to deal with it.Originally posted by gadget73 View PostComment

My dad worked at Goodyear for a bit after retiring and he said some of the shops wouldn't work on a tire that someone used slime on. Are your tires dry rotted any? Could be the valve stems or a bead leak aside from the usual nail in the tire. I had new tires leak on me once when the place skimped on bead seal, not going there anymore.sigpic

My Lincoln will start pulling a little, and I'll check the tires, and one of them will be like 15 lbs low. I hate those tires (or valve stems, whatever, I hate the situation.)Back in the saddle again!

No, its only started doing this over the last month. Tires aren't dry rotted, they're about 2 years old and in pretty good shape. New valve stems were installed with the tires, as the rims didn't have any valve stems in them when I got them. I tried looking for bubbles after getting the tire good and wet in a bucket, but I didn't find anything. Its a slow enough leak that its hard to pinpoint. Probably something stupid, its just irritating. My truck leaks on the same wheel too at a bit slower of a rate. I dunno wtf the deal is.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

With all that you said, I'd say the best guess is the bead/rim seal is probably leaking a little bit. I had new tires put on newer almost new rims with no corrosion and they had to be remounted to stop a leak like that. I know it's annoying, but if you had a place mount them maybe they'll remount it for ya?sigpic

I had a set of tires mounted on the S-10 a couple years back, and one started leaking about two days later. thats what i was figuring as well. I can get my uncle to re-mount them if thats the problem. I got these at Firestone in Reading, which is about an hour and a half from me. Not interested in driving up there to get re-done, I'm sure they'd charge me a bunch.
