    Best rotors for our cars?

I'm curious if there's really a such thing as "the best" rotors for our cars...

My rotors are getting pretty old, and are in need of replacement. My work sells a brand called "Qualis," pretty sure they're the same thing as Duralast rotors. That's the ones that I found with the Duralast part number. $40 apiece, then I get a 20% discount.

I'm considering just going with them, they're the best ones we carry (not going with Valucrap, no no no!). Unless, of course, anyone knows of any really good rotors for a good price?

If I remember I'll get the link when I get home. I found a place that said they would make aftermarket rotors for our cars, but I'll have to check.

No reason for it, too pricey. Decent stock replacements and good pads are all that is needed. Worked for me on my old car.

Centric....with the black painted fins and center.

          Great rotors, reasonable price.

I'm not having any issues with my el-chepo rotors from Autozone and Performance Frictions Z-Rated pads. Having the hub/rotor assembly makes up for the weaknesses of the seperate rotor design.

I used whatever cheap things Advance sold me for 20 bucks each. Had no problems with them, no warping, etc but I don't use the brakes heavily. I learned to drive in a car that had marginal at best brakes, so I learned to rely on engine braking a lot more than regular brakes. I still use the engine to slow me down on hills and such so I don't do much abusing of the brakes.

Will those bolt up with the calipers and pads that I'm running now? I'm still running the mid-80's calipers and pads...

If not I may just get the AutoZone rotors, if they can handle Blaze's abuse they've gotta work good too, lol.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Autozone's rotors are any better than anyone else's. Hell I even got the cheapest $20 ones they had there. I think the real problem is when you use cheap pads. If the pads don't generate enough friction, then more of the energy is used to heat the rotors. Where as good friction material will use more of the energy for stopping.

Yes good pads are important, but this statement makes no sense. All of the forward motion of the car must be dissipated in the form of heat no matter what kind of pad you use. Low friction pads make less heat. The trick is, you have to hold on the brakes longer, and its the sustained heat that gives you problems. The cheaper pads will also start to out-gas sooner, creating basically a layer of gas between the pad and rotor, and then you have no brake power. This is also known as brake fade.

                        YOU BASTARD!!

                        lol... j/k.

I know the Valucrap (lower price) rotors are aren't what I want, all our stuff from that brand I wouldn't recommend unless you want to SELL your car, lol.

I think I'll go with the Duralast (Qualis) rotors, and pick up some Z-rated pads while I'm at it!!

P.S.; The Duralast are actually a little thicker than the Valucrap's are, and are of better quality, for future reference, lol.

Thanks for the info!! I'll definately stick with what I had in mind then!
