Steel Driveshaft to Aluminum Driveshaft Swap?

My 1990 has an Aluminum driveshaft in it that I would like to swap onto the 88. Is there any differences or should it be a direct swap. Looks like the whole pinions bigger on the 90, but I havnt looked that closely.

well, if it fits in the '90 it should fit in the 88...but I know that I tried to put in a All. D/S and the pinion was too big around...
so, I'm not totall sure.

It might work, depends on the pinion flange.

I'll bring in the two cars tonight and take a picture of both of the pinions and put em up later. No usb cable at work.

Measure em and you will be able to tell.. Either they are the same bolt pattern or not.

Good point, I'll have to measure them tommorow and see if theres any difference. In the meantime, heres a couple pictures anyways. There pretty shitty. Meh.

measured it today. Bolt spacing on the aluminum shaft is 3", steel shaft is 2.5"
damn. Any options? Are the flanges on the back of the driveshaft interchangeable, take the one off that bolts to the 3" flange on the pinion and replace it with the 2.5" one? Or just forget it.

yeah you can swap the stuff. Buy new u joints and swap flanges.
