Those lower control arms look just like the ones on my 87.Did you buy those new,or did you pull them?

If you did buy them new,where did you get them from?My friend with the 87 merk tudor needs a set for his rear bar,and I really don't wanna have to go through the PITA task of pulling them in the yard.

I pulled them from the junkyard. They are the same ones on page one just media blasted & powder coated. I just need to decide what bushings I want to try and get (poly, poly-graphite, rubber?). When I go check the upper rear control arms, I will see if any of the other boxes at the junkyard have these lower rear control arms. I'll take my camera so you guys can see the police sedan I have been raping for parts.

This is all great info, but what exactly is the flange on the PI controll arms for, does it just make the arm stronger where the sway bar bolts up or something?

It's for clearance, so the swaybar can be mounted.

I doubt they will do much. Kinda A-holes about that kind of stuff and custom sets.

ES makes bushings... the 92-95 are the same from what we can tell so far. You need the shells from the stock bushings though. It's easy enough to make your own though. WWW.mcmaster.com sells poly cylinders that you can machine to size.

The old busing shells are still in good shape, so I could make my own poly bushings out of the poly cylinder. All 4 bushings are the same size. I’m working on a pic to show the dimensions now.

Question, though: how would one make plain poly bushings greasable?

Also - and I don't know how well these would work out on a heavy street car - has anyone looked into nylon or spherical bushings?

Poly would work fine. Adding a grease fitting requires drilling a hole, putting a fitting on, and making a channel to distribute the grease around the bushing. Which can be done with a dremel.

I've looked into sphericals, and would eventually like to make some arms utilizing them. It's pricey and requires a good bit fabrication.

Spherical Bearings with PTFE Liners would be cool. Anyone ever removed the rubber insert from the stock bushing shell? What is the best way to go about it, so I don't damage the bushing shell?

I wonder if this Energy Suspension Rear Control Arm Bushing Set would fit?

The rubber is easy to get out with a propane/Mapp gas torch. heat it up and push it out. The 92-97 crown vic bushings will work.
