Speaking of rims, what are you doing with your old 14s?

Kewl. I like my snow tires, at least except for the fact that they won't "float" over deeper snow like the 255's did. I would have had better luck that time I got stuck if I'd had a limited-slip, though.

Well see about that soon. I'm getting a set of wheels for the entire car and I'm going to try and run 275/40/R17 on all corners.

Already been done Johnnie...I run the cobra wheels with 275/40/17's all around. They fit fine.

Mine is lower than yours. Also, are you running 17X9 wheels? I'd assume so.

I want to run 315-335's all around on 10.5-11" wheels. With some nice wooden fender flares

325/50R15s on a 15x10" wheel with 4" of BS it should fit under the rear fenders, might have to roll the lip though, no big deal. Next time i have them off ill see what it looks like on the front.

Mike, we have built steel fender flares before, just throw on some fake wood grain.

Mine wheels are 8" There is a LOT of room and I compress my suspension more than you have and have never had any issues. And remember my street rubber is on the same spec wheel with 1" taller tires and don't ever rub either. (255/50/17) The front is droppped a little bit..

And don't give me any crap about the 275's on 8" wheels. They have hardly any side bulge. And they work great!

Metal fender flares? why? I'll make wood ones. I'd like real wood on the sides too... No more fake wood panelling...

Yay! Though your woodgrain looks about the best I've seen, judging from photos.

Did you ever see that ricer job I put up on that one thread?

It is beyond the specified rim width of those size tires. The extra width is always nice, but you might find that a good set of race compound autocross tires that are a little skinnier , will do much better. And probably have much better response, since there will be less roll.

That's the general rule. Though I know plenty of people that run oversize tires in autocross. It's very common to run the 275 on the 8" mustang wheel. I've run the correct spec tire and the oversize...The oversize works better. IIRC the wheel is only .5" under spec for the 275.. or is it 1"... I've seen some r-comp 275's that are spec'd for a 8" wheel.

All I know is a 10.50 tucks just fine under my front end. They rub my sway bar at full lock but thats due to the height. I like my big ass tires. Not the best handling but its good enough for me.

Well Mike, if you could, can you get under there some time and verify that you have at least 1/2" clearance from the wheel rim to the control arms? Since you run a 275/40 that makes the tires ok, but I still need to make sure the 9" wheels will fit without problems.
